Create Multibank Payment (Singapore)

Geography: This article is applicable for ANZ Transactive - Global customers banking in Singapore.

A Multibank Payment can be funded from the following types of accounts:
  • An ANZ offshore account (i.e. not Singapore) owned by your organisation that has been registered in ANZ Transactive - Global. For example, an ANZ Australia account.
  • A non-ANZ account owned by your organisation that has been registered in ANZ Transactive - Global and is held at a financial institution with which ANZ has a bilateral agreement. For example, a HSBC account in Hong Kong or a Bank of America account in London.
About Multibank Payments

What is a Multibank Payment?

Multibank Payments are similar to International Payments, however rather than sending a payment, you are sending a payment instruction in the form of an Outward MT101 message via the SWIFT network. The financial institution which holds the account will initiate the International Payment or MAS Electronic Payment System (MEPS) payment on your behalf.

Payment Method Rules for Multibank payments

  • Value date will default with the current or next business date if the payment is created on a non-business date or after payment cut-off
  • Future value date can be selected up to 90 days
  • Cut-off time is 23:59. While ANZ Transactive - Global can accept multibank instructions 24/7, payments will be processed according to the processing times of the bank which holds the account.
  • Payment currency includes all ANZ-supported and tradeable currencies
  • Maximum payment value is 999,999,999,999.99
  • Maximum number of payment instructions is 1

Who can create a Multibank Payment?

Eligible users with Payment Management role permissions and account access can create and manage a Multibank Payment based on your organisation's predetermined user permissions and payment settings. These role permissions can include:
  • Manage Payments - Adhoc (Adhoc & Approved Beneficiaries)
  • Manage Payments - Approved Beneficiary / Templates
  • Manage Payments - Import Payments
  • Manage Payments - FX Allowed

The following image is an example of a multibank payment screen with fields including the division, debit account, value date and cut-off time, payment reference, instruction codes, and beneficiary details.
  • Cut-off time (near the value date) indicates the payment method cut-off time, based on the originating jurisdiction and payment currencies
  • The time zone and format (near the value date) are displayed as per your Settings & Preferences
  • The ANZ Transactive - Global mobile app will display the cut-off time in the payment time zone.

Create a Multibank Payment

There are multiple ways you can create a Multibank payment from the Payments menu. Choose from the following options:

  1. Click Create Payment > Multibank Payment (see step-by-step instructions below)
  2. Click Create Payment > Use Payment Template
  3. Click Create Payment > Use Past Payment
  4. Click Current Payments > New > Multibank Payment (see step-by-step instructions below)
STEP ACTION
1 Click Payments > Create Payment menu, or
Click Payments > Current Payments menu > New.
2 Click Multibank Payment.
3 If required, select the Division the payment will be made from.
If you are entitled to more than one division, you can set a default division for future payments.
4 Select the Debit Account.

To reduce the risk of fraud, ANZ recommends you always confirm beneficiary details when processing a payment instruction.
Add Beneficiary from your Beneficiaries list
Search and select the Beneficiary from the Beneficiary field, then proceed to next steps.
Add New Beneficiary
Users must have entitlements to create new beneficiaries to complete these steps.
STEP ACTION
1 If required, tick Add this beneficiary to your Beneficiaries when the payment is submitted.
2 Select Beneficiary Bank Country or Region
The following fields will be based on the debit account and Beneficiary Bank Country or Region selected.
3 Select Clearing Code Type: Options based on Beneficiary Bank Country or Region include:

4 Click Search, to search and select the Beneficiary Bank SWIFT or Clearing Code.
5 Enter Account Number/IBAN.
6 Enter Beneficiary Name.
Full Legal Name (first name, any middle names, last name) or Registered Legal Entity Name of Beneficiary
7 Select Account Type: (Beneficiaries in China)
  • Resident Individual
  • Non-Resident Individual
  • Resident Corporate
  • Non-Resident Corporate
8 If required, enter Beneficiary Email Address up to 255 characters, separated by a comma, if sending a Beneficiary Advice.
9 If required, enter your My Beneficiary ID up to 35 characters, if 'Add this Beneficiary to your Beneficiaries' checkbox was selected.
10 Select Beneficiary Country or Region.
11 Enter Beneficiary Address up to 35 characters per line and City.
12 Click Save.
13 If required, click Add again to add additional beneficiaries.
Proceed to next steps.
6 Value Date will default with the current or next business date.
If required, choose a future value date up to 90 days.
7 Enter a Payment Reference up to 16 characters that will appear within the narrative on the debit account, beneficiary's statement and payment reports.
8 Select the Payment Currency, in the currency of the beneficiary account and enter an Amount.
9 If required, enter an amount in the Debit Currency & Amount when multiple currencies are used.
10 If required, enter the prebooked Contract ID when multiple currencies are used.
11 If required, enter the contract Exchange Rate as provided by your ANZ dealer, when multiple currencies are used.
12 If required, select the Bank-to-Bank Instruction Codes
  • These codes contain specific information about the payment to be used between the ordering customer and the financial institution that services the account.
  • If you select CMTO, OTHR, PHON or REPA, enter specific information related to the instruction in the second part of the field, e.g. a reference or telephone number (up to 35 characters). For all other codes, this field cannot be completed.

CHQB This transaction contains a request that the beneficiary be paid via issuance of a cheque.
CMSW This transaction contains a cash management instruction, requesting to sweep the account of the ordering customer.
CMTO This transaction contains a cash management instruction, requesting to top the account of the ordering customer above a certain floor amount. The floor amount, if not pre-agreed by the parties involved, may be specified after the code.
CMZB This transaction contains a cash management instruction, requesting to zero balance the account of the ordering customer.
CORT This transaction contains a payment that is made in settlement of a trade, for example, foreign exchange deal, securities transaction.
EQUI This transaction contains an instruction requesting to pay the beneficiary customer an amount in one currency, equivalent to an instructed amount in a different currency.
INTC This transaction contains an intra-company payment, that is, a payment between two companies belonging to the same group.
NETS This transaction contains a payment that should be settled via a net settlement system, if available.
OTHR Used for bilaterally agreed codes/information. The actual bilateral code/information needs to be specified in Additional Information.
PHON This transaction requires the beneficiary to be contacted by telephone and should be followed by the appropriate telephone number. (This code is meant for the last financial institution in the chain.)
REPA Payment has a related e-Payments reference.
RTGS This transaction contains a payment that should be settled via a real time gross settlement system, if available.
URGP This transaction contains a time sensitive payment which should be executed in an expeditious manner.
13 Select who will incur the transfer Charges:
  • BEN: the beneficiary pays all transfer charges and receives the payment minus the transfer charges.
  • OUR: you pay all transfer charges, and the beneficiary receives the full amount of the payment.
  • SHA: you pay outgoing transfer charges, and the beneficiary pays the correspondent bank charges. The beneficiary will receive the payment minus the correspondent bank charges. 
14 If required, tick 'I acknowledge that my company is the debit account owner' Instructing Party checkbox, if your organisation is the debit account owner.
15 If required, enter the Instructing Party Name up to 35 characters, if your organisation is not the debit account owner.
16 If required, enter Remittance Information up to 140 characters that will appear on the Detailed Payment Report
17 If required, enter Intermediary Bank information:
  • Clearing Code Type
  • Search and select Clearing Code
If the intermediary bank input field is not visible for your international payment instruction, please contact your ANZ Customer Service Centre for assistance with updating your organisation’s permissions.
18 If required, enter Remittance Information up to 140 characters that will appear on the Beneficiary Advice, the Payment Detail Report.
19 If required, add statutory and/or Regulatory Reporting information required by the authorities in the country of Receiver or Sender:
  1. Select the type of regulatory reporting instruction:
    • BENEFRES - residence of the beneficiary customer
    • ORDERRES - residence of the ordering customer
  2. Enter regulatory reporting information up to 87 characters
20 Do you wish to continue the payment at a later stage?
  • Yes - Click Save as Draft, then click OK and Close Payment to exit out to the payment and return to the Current Payments screen. Payment will be in a Draft status.
  • No - Continue steps below
21 Click Review & Submit
22 Click Submit
RESULT: Payment instruction has been submitted and pending approval.
Errors and Alerts
Error and alert messages such as 'fields validations' display information about the impacted field(s) and highlights the field(s) in red. Error messages are specific to the payment method types, fields available and particulars validations. You can update the information within the impacted field(s) and continue processing the payment.

Next Steps

When the payment instruction has been successfully submitted and is now in a Pending Approval status, you can choose from the following on-screen options:

  • Request Payment Summary Report - Download in CSV, PDF and XLSX
  • Save Payment as Template - View in Templates menu. Use Payment Template.
  • View this Payment in a Pending Approval status
  • Click OK to close the payment and return to the Current Payments screen
