What is Economic Pulse Plus?
Economic Pulse Plus is a conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) virtual assistant tool (“the assistant”) designed to help you navigate and understand Economic Pulse data more easily.
The assistant can provide instant answers, guide you through features, and help access insights without needing to use the existing Economic Pulse dashboard.
What kind of AI does Economic Pulse Plus use?
Economic Pulse Plus uses a Generative AI model with Agentic technology. This means it can understand natural language (e.g. “Show me the latest economic trends in NSW”), generate helpful responses, and adapt to your context - like a smart virtual assistant.
It remembers your questions, adjusts to your expertise, and helps you to explore our Economic Pulse data more intuitively.
How do I access Economic Pulse Plus?
Initially, only selected customers invited to the pilot program are eligible to use Economic Pulse Plus.
If you are a pilot user, it will be accessible from the Data Insights menu in Transactive Global.
What kind of questions can I ask the assistant?
You can ask about data trends, definitions (like SA3, industries, specific events, time series etc.), how to interpret charts and more.
You can also ask the assistant the potential drivers of a change in data. For example, when looking at an increase in spend between Oct - Dec, the assistant can explain that Black Friday sales tend to drive spend.
For example: “Provide me the year-on-year spending for Shopping industry in Victoria for the last 6 months”.
How often is Economic Pulse Plus data updated?
The ANZ retail spending data is aggregated weekly, giving a timely snapshot of market activity.
Can I export data or generate reports from the results provided by the assistant?
Yes. Charts and tables have a download icon to export the data into a CSV file: You can also prompt the assistant to create a report based on a particular result, and it will return an expended summary of the result shown.
Can the assistant compare economic data across regions?
Yes. You can ask it to display spending data by state, SA3 region, industry, and date range e.g. Compare retail spending in VIC vs NSW for the Shopping industry in the last 5 weeks.
Can the assistant forecast or predict trends based on past data?
No. Economic Pulse Plus will explain trends using historical data but doesn’t predict future outcomes e.g. it can show that spending in WA increased 12% year-on-year but won’t forecast next quarter’s growth.
Can the assistant explain the data it shows?
It explains high-level trends but not the underlying data sources or calculations. For example, it might say something generalised like “spending rose due to seasonal demand,” but won’t provide further detail.
Can the assistant detect anomalies or trends?
No, anomaly detection is not currently supported. Economic Pulse Plus will show data that may include unexpected spikes in spending for a region, but it will not specifically alert you to this.
Is the Economic Pulse Plus available on mobile devices?
No. Like Economic Pulse, the AI assistant is only available through the web version of ANZ Transactive - Global.
Is the data I enter into Economic Pulse Plus secure?
Yes, Economic Pulse Plus is designed with security in mind. However, it's important to remember that anything you type into the prompt field becomes part of your data footprint. While the system does not share your data externally, it may be used to improve responses and user experience internally.
Should I include personal or sensitive information in my prompts?
No. Avoid entering any personal or sensitive information when using Economic Pulse Plus as it may lead to inaccurate AI responses and could pose a privacy risk.
Can the assistant provide insights specific to my business or region?
Yes, it can tailor responses based on requested regions or sectors.
Is there a limit on the number of questions I can ask the assistant?
No. At this stage, there is no limit on the number of queries that can be asked.
Can I save my previous queries in Economic Pulse Plus?
No. For privacy reasons, previous queries are not visible after your session ends. If you need to keep a record, download or save the information at the time of your search.
What should I do if the assistant doesn’t understand my question?
The assistant will seek clarification if it is unable to understand your prompt. For example, if your question has a spelling mistake, the assistant should identify this and will seek clarification from you before providing a response.
Can I ask the assistant questions unrelated to consumer spending data?
No. Economic Pulse Plus is designed specifically to answer questions related to Economic Pulse data.
Will Economic Pulse Plus return the same data as Economic Pulse?
Both apps use the same underlying data, but Economic Pulse Plus applies AI to interpret and present it differently. While this may result in minor variations in the figures, the overall trends will remain consistent. If you're curious, you can ask the assistant how it calculated the numbers.
