What is Economic Pulse Plus?
A conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) virtual assistant tool (“the assistant”) that can help you navigate and understand Economic Pulse data using natural language queries (prompts).
The assistant can provide near real-time answers, guide you through features, and help you access consumer spending insights without manually navigating the existing Economic Pulse dashboard.
What kind of AI does Economic Pulse Plus use?
Economic Pulse Plus uses a Generative AI model with Agentic technology. This means it can understand natural language (e.g. “Show me the latest economic trends in NSW”), generate helpful responses, and adapt to your context - like a smart virtual assistant.
It remembers your questions, adjusts to your expertise, and helps you to explore Economic Pulse data more intuitively.
How do I access Economic Pulse Plus?
The assistant is currently available to selected pilot customers only.
It is available from the Data Insights menu in ANZ Transactive – Global. If you don’t see the menu, contact your ANZ representative to arrange pilot access.
What can I ask the assistant?
You can ask about data trends, definitions, how to interpret charts and more.
You can also ask the assistant the potential drivers of a change in data. For example, when looking at an increase in spend between Oct - Dec, the assistant can explain that Black Friday sales tend to drive spend.
For example: “Provide me the year-on-year spending for Shopping industry in Victoria for the last 6 months”.
How often is Economic Pulse Plus data refreshed?
The ANZ retail spending data referenced by Economic Pulse Plus is updated daily, with the information typically two business days behind the current date.
Can I export data from Economic Pulse Plus?
Yes. Charts, graphs and tables can be exported to CSV using the Export icon. You can also ask the assistant to create a summary report for a particular result.
Can the assistant compare economic data across regions?
Yes. You can ask it to display spending data by state, SA3 region, industry, and date range. For example: “Compare retail spending in VIC vs NSW for the Shopping industry over the last five weeks.”
Can the assistant forecast or predict trends based on past data?
No. Economic Pulse Plus explains trends using historical data but does not predict future outcomes. For example, it can show that spending in WA increased 12% year-on-year but won’t forecast next quarter’s growth.
Can the assistant explain the data it shows?
Yes, at a high level. It provides general explanation of trends but does not detail underlying data sources or calculations. For example, it might say “Spending rose due to seasonal demand.”
The assistant can also suggest possible drivers behind these trends; however, these are indicative only and may not always be accurate.
Can the assistant detect anomalies or trends?
No. Anomaly detection is not supported. The assistant may display data that includes unexpected spikes, but it will not specifically alert you to them.
Is the data I enter into Economic Pulse Plus secure?
Yes, Economic Pulse Plus is designed with security in mind. However, anything you type into the prompt field becomes part of your data footprint. While the system does not share your data externally, it may be used internally to improve responses and your user experience.
Do not enter any personal or sensitive information, as this may lead to inaccurate AI responses and could pose a privacy risk.
Can the assistant provide insights specific to my business or region?
The assistant can tailor responses based on requested regions or sectors, but it cannot provide insights specific to your individual business.
Is there a limit on the number of questions I can ask the assistant?
No. There is currently no limit on the number of questions you can ask.
Can I save my previous queries in Economic Pulse Plus?
No. For privacy reasons, previous queries are not retained after your session ends. If you need a record, download or save the information during your session.
What should I do if the assistant does not understand my question?
If the assistant cannot understand your prompt, it will ask for clarification. For example, if your question contains a spelling mistake, the assistant will identify this and request clarification before providing a response.
Can I ask the assistant questions unrelated to consumer spending data?
No. Economic Pulse Plus is designed to answer questions related to Economic Pulse data only.
Will Economic Pulse Plus return the same data as Economic Pulse?
Yes. Both use the same underlying data, but Economic Pulse Plus applies AI to interpret and present it differently. This may result in minor variations in figures, though overall trends will remain consistent. If you're curious, you can ask the assistant how it calculated the numbers.
Is the Economic Pulse Plus available on mobile devices?
No. Economic Pulse Plus is only available via the desktop version of ANZ Transactive - Global.
What browsers are supported?
Google Chrome is the recommended browser for an optimal Economic Pulse Plus experience.
