Create Multibank Payment Template (Australia & New Zealand)

About Multibank Templates

What is a Multibank template

Multibank template allows you to setup frequently used payment instructions in the form of an Outward MT101 message via the SWIFT network. The financial institution which holds the account will initiate the International Payment or Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) payment on your behalf.

Once successfully created, you can use the preconfigured template to create your payment instructions.

Payment template rules for Multibank payments

  • Disable Beneficiary changes prevent users from adding or editing any beneficiaries when a payment is created from a template. If your organisation has enabled this product setting in Division Settings, then this indicator cannot be removed.
  • Fields marked with an asterisk (*) within a template are considered mandatory. Additional information can be added at time of payment, including value date, additional information, supporting document, etc.
  • Template Approvals are required if your organisation needs Approval for templates when creating, editing or deleting a template. Once approved, the template can be used to create a payment.
  • New Beneficiaries added to a template may need to be approved before the template can be used to create a payment.

Who can create a Multibank template?

  • Eligible users with Payment Management role permissions and account access can create and manage a Multibank template based on your organisation's predetermined user permissions and payment settings. These role permissions can include:
    • Manage Payments - Adhoc (Adhoc & Approved Beneficiaries)
    • Manage Payments - Approved Beneficiary / Templates
    • Manage Payments - Import Payments

Create Multibank template

To create a multibank payment template, follow the steps below:

STEP ACTION
1 Click Payments > Templates menu.
2 Click New on the Control Bar.
3 Click Multibank payment Template.
4 If required, select the Division the payment will be made from.
If you are entitled to more than one division, you can set a default division for future payments.
5 Select the Debit Account.

To reduce the risk of fraud, ANZ recommends you always confirm beneficiary details when processing a payment instruction.
Add Beneficiary from your Beneficiaries list
Search and select the Beneficiary from the Beneficiary Name field, then proceed to next steps.
Enter New Beneficiary
Users must have entitlements to create new beneficiaries to complete these steps.
STEP ACTION
1 Enter Beneficiary Name.
2 Choose from the following options:
  • IBAN - for payments to Europe and other selected countries
  • Other
3 Enter Account Number/IBAN.
4 Select Account Type: (Beneficiaries in China).
  • Resident Individual
  • Non-Resident Individual
  • Resident Corporate
  • Non-Resident Corporate
5 If required, enter a single Beneficiary Email Address. 
6 Enter Beneficiary Address up to 35 characters per line and City.
7 Select Beneficiary Country or Region.
8 Select Beneficiary Bank Country or Region.
9 Select the Clearing Code: Options based on Beneficiary Bank Country or Region and can include:
  • SWIFT
  • Australian Bank State Branch (BSB) Code (AU) - AU
  • CHIPS Universal Identifier (US) - CH
  • Fedwire Routing Numbers (US) - FW
  • UK Domestic Sort Code (GB) - SC
10 Click Search, to search and select the Beneficiary Bank details.
11 Click Proceed
7 If required, untick the Disable Beneficiary changes for Payments created from this Template indicator to allow beneficiaries to be added or edited.
8 Enter a Template Name up to 16 characters. This will become the Template Name when you create a payment from the template.
9 Enter Template Description up to 40 characters.
10 Enter a Payment Reference up to 16 characters that will appear within the narrative on the funding account, beneficiary's statement and payment reports.
11 If required, enter the Beneficiary Payment Amount, in the currency of the beneficiary account.
This can be added or updated at time of payment.
12 If required, select the Bank-to-Bank Instruction Codes
  • These contain specific information about the payment to be used between the ordering customer and the financial institution that services the account.
  • If you select PHON or REPA, type specific information related to the instruction in the second part of the field, e.g. a reference or telephone number (up to 35 characters). For all other codes, this field cannot be completed.
CODE DEFINITION
CHQB This transaction contains a request that the beneficiary be paid via issuance of a cheque.
CMSW This transaction contains a cash management instruction, requesting to sweep the account of the ordering customer.
CMTO This transaction contains a cash management instruction, requesting to top the account of the ordering customer above a certain floor amount. The floor amount, if not pre-agreed by the parties involved, may be specified after the code.
CMZB This transaction contains a cash management instruction, requesting to zero balance the account of the ordering customer.
CORT This transaction contains a payment that is made in settlement of a trade, for example, foreign exchange deal, securities transaction.
EQUI This transaction contains an instruction requesting to pay the beneficiary customer an amount in one currency, equivalent to an instructed amount in a different currency.
INTC This transaction contains an intra-company payment, that is, a payment between two companies belonging to the same group.
NETS This transaction contains a payment that should be settled via a net settlement system, if available.
OTHR Used for bilaterally agreed codes/information. The actual bilateral code/information needs to be specified in Additional Information.
PHON This transaction requires the beneficiary to be contacted by telephone and should be followed by the appropriate telephone number. (This code is meant for the last financial institution in the chain.)
REPA Payment has a related e-Payments reference.
RTGS This transaction contains a payment that should be settled via a real time gross settlement system, if available.
URGP This transaction contains a time sensitive payment which should be executed in an expeditious manner.
13 Select who will incur the transfer Charges:
  • OUR: 'OUR Charge' fee is charged by us. We will cover fees charged by our correspondent banks used in processing this payment. Other banks (including other intermediary banks and/or the recipient's bank) may charge an additional fee.
  • SHA: this means any fees charged by other banks (including our correspondent banks, any other intermediary banks and/or the recipient's bank) will be deducted from the payment before the proceeds are paid to the beneficiary.
14 If required, tick 'I acknowledge that my company is the debit account owner' Instructing Party checkbox, if your organisation is the debit account owner.
15 If required, enter the Instructing Party Name up to 35 characters, if your organisation is not the debit account owner.
16 If required, enter Remittance Information up to 140 characters that will appear on the Detailed Payment Report.
17 If required, enter Intermediary Bank information:
  • Bank Code Type
  • Search and select Bank Code
18 If required, add statutory and/or Regulatory Reporting information required by the authorities in the country of Receiver or Sender:
  1. Select the type of regulatory reporting instruction:
    • BENEFRES - residence of the beneficiary customer
    • ORDERRES - residence of the ordering customer
  2. Enter regulatory reporting information up to 87 characters
19 Do you wish to continue the payment at a later stage?
  • Yes - Click Save as Draft, then click OK and Close Payment to exit out to the payment and return to the Current Payments screen. Payment will be in a Draft status.
  • No - Continue steps below.
20 Click Review & Submit.
21 Click Submit.
RESULT: Payment instruction has been submitted and pending approval.

 

Errors and Alerts
Error and alert messages such as 'fields validations' display information about the impacted field(s) and highlights the field(s) in red. Error messages are specific to the payment method types, fields available and particulars validations. You can update the information within the impacted field(s) and continue processing the payment.

  • Error is indicated by a red triangle. Details must be corrected to proceed with payment processing.
  • Alert with Warning is indicated by an amber triangle. Details can be corrected or accepted to proceed with payment processing.
