About International Payment Templates

What is an International Payment Template?

International payments, also known as cross-border payments or telegraphic transfers, allows you to setup frequently used payment instructions to transfer funds from a single funding account to one or more nominated beneficiary accounts worldwide using an ANZ-supported and tradeable currency. International payments often involve two currencies where a foreign currency exchange rate is required. 

Once successfully created, you can use the preconfigured template to create your payment instructions.

Payment Template Rules for International Payments

  • Disable Beneficiary changes prevent users from adding or editing any beneficiaries when a payment is created from a template. If your organisation has enabled this product setting in Division Settings, then this indicator cannot be removed.
  • Fields marked with an asterisk (*) within a template are considered mandatory. Additional information can be added at time of payment, including value date, FX rate, additional information, etc.
  • Confidential indicator will be enabled for selection for users with Confidential Payments entitlements.
  • Foreign Currency: The exchange rate cannot be provided within a template but only shown once the template is approved and used to create a payment.
  • Template Approvals are required if your organisation needs Approval for templates when creating, editing or deleting a template. Once approved, the template can be used to create a payment.
  • New Beneficiaries added to a template may need to be approved before the template can be used to create a payment.
  • Where (credit) payment currency is IDR, INR, MYR or ZAR, then Beneficiary Bank Country or Region must be ID (Indonesia), IN (India), MY (Malaysia) or ZA (South Africa) respectively.
  • When Beneficiary Bank Country is CN (China, and currency is CNY), IN (India), ID (Indonesia), MY (Malaysia), or AE (UAE), the Purpose Code is mandatory.
  • Invalid Character rules apply to this payment type.

Who can create an International Payment Template?

Eligible users with Payment Management role permissions and account access can create and manage an International Payment Templates based on your organisation's predetermined user permissions and payment settings. These role permissions can include:
  • Manage Payments - Adhoc (Adhoc & Approved Beneficiaries)
  • Manage Payments - Approved Beneficiary / Templates
  • Manage Payments - Import Payments
  • Manage Payments - FX Allowed
Only users who are entitled to Confidential Payments will be able to view, edit and approve payments created from a template when the confidential indicator selected.
Users with more than 1000 accounts, may need to use the Previous or Next arrows on the screen to search and select the debit account when creating a payment.

Create an International Payment Template

To create an international payment template, follow the steps below:

STEP ACTION
1 Click Payments > Templates menu.
2 Click New on the Control Bar.
3 If required, choose a Country or Region where the funding account is domiciled. Select either:
  • Australia, New Zealand or China
  • Other Countries or Regions (Hong Kong, India, the Philippines, Singapore or Vietnam)
4 Click International Payment Template.
5 If required, select the Division the payment will be made from.
If you are entitled to more than one division, you can set a default division for future payments.
6 Select the Debit Account.
7 Enter Template Name up to 35 characters. This will become the Template Name when you create a payment from the template.
8 Enter Template Description up to 40 characters.
9 Enter a Payment Reference up to 35 characters that will appear within the narrative on the funding account and payment reports.
10 If required, enter a Debit Advice Description up to:
  • 140 characters where debit account is domiciled is CN or
  • 55 characters where debit account is not domiciled in AU, CN or NZ.
11 If required, select the Payment Currency if different to the debit account currency.
Refer to Processing & cut-off times for list of available payment currencies.
12 If required, select a Confidential Data Group.
13 If required, tick Enter Amounts in Debit Currency if payment amount is in a different currency.
14 If required, untick the Disable Beneficiary changes for Payments created from this Template indicator to allow beneficiaries to be added or edited.

To reduce the risk of fraud, ANZ recommends you always confirm beneficiary details when processing a payment.
Click Add to add one or more beneficiary details using the following options:
Add Beneficiary from your Beneficiaries list
Search and select the Beneficiary from the Beneficiary Name field, then proceed to next steps. If required, click Add again to add additional beneficiaries.
Add New Beneficiary
Users must have entitlements to create new beneficiaries to complete these steps.
STEP ACTION
1 'Add this Beneficiary to your Beneficiaries, when the template is submitted.' is selected by default.
2 Select Beneficiary Bank Country or Region
The following fields will be based on the debit account and Beneficiary Bank Country or Region selected.
3 Select Clearing Code Type: Options based on Beneficiary Bank Country or Region include:

4 Click Search, to search and select the Beneficiary Bank SWIFT or Clearing Code.
5 Enter Account Number/IBAN.

This field will be available when the debit account is domiciled in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore or Vietnam and the Beneficiary bank is in either China, Macao, Hong Kong or Singapore.
If required, select Account Type:
  • Resident Individual
  • Non-Resident Individual
  • Resident Corporate
  • Non-Resident Corporate
7 Enter Beneficiary Name.

Enter Full Legal Name (first name, any middle names, last name) or Registered Legal Entity Name of Beneficiary.
8 If required, enter Beneficiary Email Address up to 255 characters, separated by a comma, if sending a Beneficiary Advice. Multiple Email Addresses must be separated by a comma. (,).

Please refer to Payment Report Types for a sample Beneficiary Advice.
9 Enter a unique My Beneficiary ID up to 35 characters.
10 Select Beneficiary Country or Region.
11 Enter Beneficiary Address up to 35 characters per line and City.
12 Click Save.
13 If required, click Add again to add additional beneficiaries.
Proceed to next steps.
16 If required, enter Client Reference up to 35 characters if different from the Payment Reference prepopulated.
17 Enter the Beneficiary payment Amount.
18 If required, click Information for Payment Details icon to view or update additional beneficiary information:

The option to charge your beneficiary is not available in ANZ Transactive – Global. If you have elected to charge your beneficiary in a file import, the system will default the charges to SHA.
