Beneficiary Name Check FAQ's

ANZ Transactive - Global will automatically initiate a beneficiary name check lookup when the following occurs:

• When you make an Osko or Direct Entry payment (in Australia), or NEFT or RTGS payment (in India) to an account number for the first time; or
• Create a new Beneficiary; or
• Amend an existing Beneficiary account details saved in your Beneficiary list.

Beneficiary name check will look up the account details you entered against the details held by the beneficiary's bank and let you know the result. This information can help to inform you what to do next and gives you more confidence that your payment is going to the correct account.

You do not need to do anything. Beneficiary name check will be made available in ANZ Transactive - Global when you make an Osko or Direct Entry payment (in Australia), or NEFT or RTGS payment (in India), or edit a beneficiary's account number; you will be given a result before you make a payment.

Yes, (-) and (') can be used within the Beneficiary name. The invalid characters can include: ["$%*;<>\^{}=@`] <><> Only characters specified in Payment Parameters are allowed.

The Verify Beneficiary Details button for beneficiary name check will only populate when a beneficiary is created or edited from either the Beneficiary sub menu, or within the Payment Creation Screen.

A company administrator can Create a Custom Role with Payee Management permissions, such as view, manage, approve or allow self-approval. The custom role can then be assigned to the user permissions when Creating a New User or Editing a User’s Permissions.

Currently you are unable to perform a beneficiary name check during Payment File Upload. It is recommended you continue to confirm directly with the beneficiary the new or changed bank account details. A beneficiary name check can be completed via the Create and Manage Beneficiaries screens in ANZ Transactive - Global before updating your accounting system.

Confirmation of Payee is an industry-wide service that checks the bank account details entered by a payer with the account details held by the beneficiary's bank and displays a match outcome to the payer.
Confirmation of Payee is available for Osko and Direct Entry payments in Australia. It checks the account name, BSB and account number you have entered against the details held by the beneficiary's bank and lets you know whether it is a match. This can help you make a decision about what to do next, e.g. continue with the payment, check the details again or choose not to proceed with the payment altogether.

Yes. Confirmation of Payee will never stop you from making a payment unless the response is ‘Inactive’, which means that the account is closed.
We encourage you to be scam aware and always take steps to make sure you know who you are paying, as scams or mistaken payments may not be recoverable.

You should share your full account name, your BSB and account number as held by ANZ for your account.

A No Match result means the account name entered does not match the account. No match can also be returned where the character limit is exceeded, or middle name/s are not included.
If you have a no match outcome, check the account name, BSB and account number with the beneficiary to ensure that the details you have entered are correct.

The Beneficiary Name field can accept up to 35 characters. This restriction may result in the beneficiary name entered by the payer being less than the beneficiary's full account name as known by the beneficiary's bank, leading to an outcome of no match.
It is recommended you continue to confirm directly with the beneficiary the new or changed bank account details.

This can happen if you enter invalid characters into the Beneficiary Name field. The invalid characters can include: ["$%*;<>\^{}=@`] <><> Only characters specified in Payment Parameters are allowed.
